My wife and me just finished the Drums of Desolation thread. On several occasions we flipped exploration cards which told us to "use our time piece". We exchanged them, because we didn't understand the meaning of it. As far as we know there is no "time piece" in the game. Is this an out of game mechanic? Does it really mean "check what time it is in real life"? That would be a completely "non-immersive". mechanism. We can not believe that. What's the correct use of these exploration cards?

Yes, it is IRL time.
In The 7th Citadel (just as in Continent), we find small mechanics to surprise the player. It's something that authors like. Looking at your watch IRL to check the time and telling yourself that we are living at the same time as our character is immersive in my opinion. (and it's easier than asking to consult your barometer IRL ^^). Sorry if this isn't a mechanic to your liking!
