In this scenario there are some side quests available to choose from and at the end it is checked if the quest is finished with a Dialogue book number. If I can't finish the side quest during that scenario but I finish later in a different scenario., can I return to that epilogue and check the outcome? Or are the unfinished quests failed for good?

For each of these quests, it is specified which dialogue to read during the Preparation phase if you are at the Citadel and the quest is initiated. Therefore, if you resolve it later, the effect will still apply during the subsequent Preparation phase at the Citadel..

The difference for this scenario is that if you have initiated the quests during the scenario, their effects will apply immediately during the Conclusion step.
